Congress Essentials

Language

The official language of the Congress is English. Simultaneous translation into French, Spanish and other languages may be arranged for selected sessions, but this is not guaranteed.

Visas

Delegates are advised to check their visa requirements and make the necessary visa arrangements as early as possible. Citizens of certain countries and territories need a visa to visit Australia and/or to transit through to other countries on their way to Australia. The FIGO Congress Secretariat can provide letters of invitation to delegates that have registered and paid their registration fee, but FIGO cannot provide specialist visa application support or take responsibility for individual delegate's visa arrangements.

Insurance

Delegates are advised to take out their own insurance to cover their travel, personal possessions, and cancellation. The FIGO Congress Secretariat cannot protect delegates against cancellation of bookings, cancellation or disruption of travel, or theft or damage to personal possessions.

Unauthorised Providers

Please be vigilant when making online registration and accommodation reservations. Many large events are now being targeted by fraudulent or unauthorized websites offering accommodation and registrations to delegates. Often these websites are designed to look like the official Congress website, but they are not. Online registration for the FIGO 2021 World Congress is only every provided through the official Congress website, and the FIGO Congress Secretariat can only allow delegates access to the Congress if they have registered and paid via the official FIGO Congress website. The FIGO Congress Secretariat will make best efforts to report fraudulent websites to the relevant authorities, but cannot control external websites and cannot take responsibility for delegates that make bookings and payments via fraudulent or unauthorised websites.

Registration Inclusions

The FIGO 2021 Congress registration fee includes:

Disclaimers

  • All efforts will be made to deliver the scientific and social programmes as promoted. However, the FIGO Congress Secretariat and its suppliers reserve the right to alter or cancel without any prior notice any of the arrangements for reasons beyond the FIGO Congress Secretariat's control. The FIGO Congress Secretariat and its suppliers are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused as a result of such alterations.
  • Some of the information provided in the programme will be provided by external sources. Although every effort has been made to ensure accuracy of the content, the FIGO Congress Secretariat does not accept responsibility in this regard.
  • Access to the scientific programme sessions is on a first-come, first-served basis, and the FIGO Congress Secretariat cannot guarantee you will always be able to attend the session of your first choice due to room capacity regulations. If the session hall of your first choice is full, you may need to make an alternate selection.
  • The FIGO Congress Secretariat does not endorse or recommend any sponsor products or services. Sponsor activities are not planned, sponsored by, or endorsed by FIGO HQ or the FIGO Congress Secretariat. Sponsored symposia are not part of, or an official activity of, FIGO.

Photography Disclaimers

The FIGO World Congress will be photographed and some activities will be recorded. The resulting images and recordings may be published by FIGO and partners during and after the Congress for promotional or educational purposes. By attending the FIGO World Congress, delegates agree that FIGO and partners may photograph or record you and may publish these photographs or recordings. Non-flash photography at FIGO for personal use is permitted, but any photography for commercial use or recording of activities at FIGO is forbidden without prior written permission of FIGO.

Code of Conduct

  • FIGO encourages open discussions and interaction as essential elements of participation among all Congress attendees.
  • It is FIGO’s commitment to provide a harassment-free Congress experience for every delegate regardless of gender, sexual identity, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion. Congress attendees are expected to conduct themselves with respect, integrity and comity for others.
  • FIGO will not tolerate behaviour that leads to harm, prejudice, or disruption during the Congress, including the threat or use of physical force by any individual or group of individuals against person or property.
  • FIGO reserves the right to revoke Congress registration and name badges, therefore denying access to individuals who do not adhere to these principles.
  • The safety and well being of Congress attendees is our priority. If any attendee witnesses, experiences or suspects any behaviour in breach of the Code of Conduct, they are encouraged to report this to a member of staff of FIGO, the Congress Secretariat or building security. We will respond as soon as possible and take appropriate action. Please contact us at info [at] figo2021.org.

Access

The Congress venue is equipped with elevators, escalators and ramps. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us at info [at] figo2021.org.

Diversity

FIGO is committed to its events being representative of the varied experiences of the attending delegates. FIGO will make every effort to ensure all Congress programme activities are diverse and representative in terms of gender and regional representation. However, FIGO cannot guarantee that unforeseen or last minute circumstances may result in some sessions becoming less gender or geographically balanced than originally intended, due to speaker changes.

Sustainability

  • FIGO and the ICC Sydney are making efforts to reduce waste and mitigate the negative environmental impact of its events.
  • FIGO will provide small printed programmes to delegates, and encourages the use of the website and mobile app for the full programme details and book of abstracts, to reduce waste. Delegates are advised to download the mobile app prior to the Congress.
  • FIGO is making best efforts to source recyclable and reusable Congress materials, including crockery, cutlery, badges, lanyards, and bags.
  • FIGO is encouraging sponsors and exhibitors to reduce their waste, for example by offering recyclable giveaways and using digital rather than printed promotions where possible.
  • FIGO is pleased to be working with a Congress venue that makes ongoing efforts to save energy and water, purchase environmentally preferable products, minimise its waste and help raise awareness of environmental issues. Some examples of the ICC's activities include a local-focused food supply chain, donating unused meals to local charities, and using solar energy.
  • FIGO and the ICC Sydney will endeavour to offer health-conscious meal choices throughout the Congress, both in the included networking events and for-purchase items.

Reconciliation

ICC Sydney stands on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge the original custodians of this country.
